Cloisonne is the most traditional and ornamental material for badges, as it is said the colors can be preserved for 100 years without changing. All the colors are made from mineral ore ground into powder before coloring, also the colors painted on pins must be fired at temperature of 1472º Fahrenheit in order to become molten and then cooled off at normal temperature. Usually we have to fire once after each color painted to ensure the colors will not be mixed. Hard enamel is the most expensive one among the other materials because of the complicated procedures; sophisticated skills and time consuming in production.
